Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea)

Ruddy Shelduck are becoming increasingly rare in Europe and their range is retreating into North Africa and Asia.

A striking bird which is roughly the same size as Common Shelduck. The body is bright orange, with the head being paler than the rest of the body. Rump, tail and flight-feathers are black.
In flight the forewing is white.

This species no longer breeds in Spain so no distribution map is included.
